PIROT, Serbia - Jubilant scenes erupted in Pirot this past weekend as Radnički Pirot officially secured the Srpska Liga East title, confirming their promotion to the Serbian First League (Prva Liga Srbije). A convincing 3-0 victory over FK Timok 1919 was enough to put them mathematically out of reach of their closest rivals, FK Trayal, with two games to spare.
The atmosphere at the Gradski Stadion Pirot was electric, with thousands of fans celebrating a season of consistent excellence. Goals from captain Nikola Vasić, young talent Luka Stojanović, and a late strike from veteran forward Milan Stojanović sealed the victory and the championship. Radnički Pirot has been the standout team in the league, demonstrating a blend of tactical discipline, attacking prowess, and unwavering team spirit.
Coach Dragan Nikolić, visibly emotional, praised his squad. "This is the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and belief. Every single player, every staff member, and our incredible fans have contributed to this success. We set out with a clear goal, and to achieve it in such a dominant fashion is truly special. We belong in the Prva Liga."
Radnički's success has been built on a robust 4-4-2 formation, emphasizing strong defensive organization and quick transitions. Nikola Vasić, their influential central midfielder, has been the engine of the team, dictating play and providing crucial leadership. The emergence of Luka Stojanović, a local academy product, has also been a highlight, with his pace and trickery causing nightmares for opposition defenses.
FK Trayal, who have pushed Radnički hard for much of the season, also secured a win, but it wasn't enough to prevent Radnički from claiming the title. Trayal's coach, Miloš Stojčev, offered his congratulations. "Radnički have been the best team, no doubt. They deserve this. We fought hard, but they had that extra quality and consistency. We will regroup and come back stronger next season."
The promotion marks a significant moment for football in Pirot, bringing higher-level competition and renewed excitement to the region. The challenge now shifts to preparing for the demands of the Serbian First League, a step up in quality and intensity.
